Voices from the Frontlines: Adetola Adelusi on HR Tech Transformations

Adetola Adelusi, an insightful HR professional, working as a Change Management Advisor at HRLeverage, provides a firsthand account of the transformative journey from manual HR processes to the tech-powered landscape of today. In a candid interview, Adelusi shares perspectives on HR Tech tools, the impact of COVID-19 and the evolving role of technology in HR functions.

“Tech came into HR field transitioning it from manual process to automated process with the introduction of ATS in recruitment, design of psychometric tests for personality assessment.”

“Also, the likes of Dragnet introduced computer-based test into the recruitment function of HR.”

Adelusi highlights prevalent HR Tech tools, including “Myxalary, SeamlessHR and Zoho,” acknowledging their role in automating HR functions. Despite the progress, Adelusi notes a lack of comprehensive solutions and calls for collaboration in the HR Tech space.

“There has been a kind of slow largescale product design for the HR field which can be based on the not so encouraging return on investment in the field experienced by techies.”

The COVID-19 era spurred increased tech adoption in HR, aligning with the remote work mode. Adelusi notes the rise of AI, simulating human dynamics and automating tasks. However, challenges persist in finding unified HR Tech solutions.

“A lot of HR Professionals have mostly adopted tech in Recruitment. The use of ATS has become a constant. AI is also being used to draft and prepare for interview sessions. I believe soon, AI could coordinate and interview candidates. AI in the nearest future could be able to do recruitment and submit reports.”

Adelusi identifies areas of HR where technology has made significant inroads, such as recruitment and interview preparation. Despite the potential for job losses due to automation, Adelusi emphasizes that tech can’t replace the human touch in HR interactions.

“More people in the HR space will lose their jobs as a result of automation. However, Tech cannot fully replace the HR Professional and this is due to the human touch, connection established with a human being during conversation via the synergy of verbal and nonverbal communication cues.”

Looking ahead to 2025, Adelusi envisions a future of collaboration and innovation in HR Tech. While recognizing the short timeframe for groundbreaking changes, Adelusi encourages continued efforts to refine ideas suitable for the field.

“For 2025, the timeframe is short for a remarkable gamechanger however, more collaborations and innovations to ideas suitable for the field will continue to be an experience.”

In closing, Adelusi identifies top HR Tech solutions, highlighting the importance of AI and Bard. Additionally, cybersecurity measures like firewalls and antivirus software are endorsed for securing HR data.
